Digitization is the New Black

According to TechTarget, “Two-thirds of business leaders believe that their companies must pick up the pace of enterprise digitization to remain competitive.” There is no denying the speed with which the world is transforming digitally. Digitizing is no longer something that companies can survive without. The burning question is no longer whether digitization is necessary, but rather, when digitization is necessary - and the answer is now.  Digitization has become an imperative step towards the sustainable success of the organization as a whole.

Don't Ignore the Great Digital Divide

It seems as if the recent “technology boom” has created a great divide separating those who embrace the change, and those who are falling behind. Forbes commented on this divide, stating that, “The implications are far reaching: in many industries, new competitive battle lines may form between companies that use the Web in sophisticated ways and companies that feel uncomfortable with new Web-inspired management styles or simply can’t execute at a sufficiently high level”.

Both technology and digitalization offer opportunity not only for a revised, more effective business model, but also for an enhanced customer-company relationship. Consumers want tangible results, and digitization is the best tool that can aid your company in providing a solution. Communication both within the company and with consumers is essential, and with recent improvements in digital technologies, the speed of communication is faster than ever. Advancements in these fields minimize errors while maximizing productivity and scheduling, antiquating outdated tools such as handheld planners, and replacing them with efficient tech - think Google’s interconnected calendar.

Digitization Increases Employee Productivity

A recent InformationWeek article discussed Adobe poll results and discovered that employees who consider their company “ahead of the curve” love their work twice as much and feel about twice as creative, motivated, and valued compared to those who rate their company as being “behind the times”. Furthermore, 85% of respondents claimed that technology makes them more productive. If companies take the jump to ride the “digital wave,” they are on track for success in the new digital world. When both the goals of the employees and the company are aligned as a whole, a healthy and productive work environment is created.

Digitization heavily involves collecting and interpreting data, a process that can be particularly beneficial to your business as collected data allows you to better assist both your customer and your organization in a more efficient way. Deloitte sees digitalization as an opportunity to “make the invisible, visible” for consumers. The ability to analyze past data and therefore predict future data is a valuable asset for any organization. In December of 2015, Energy Special Interest Group wrote, “While Gartner says 50% of businesses intend to be a digital business in 24 months and 83% in three to five years, they need a clear strategy to manage their digital transformation and boost operational efficiency.”

There is no more denying the change; the only option is to take the jump and go with it. Your company will be shocked with what this transition can provide. Enhanced communication and more data will allow for increased relationships and better quality.

Digitize Success

This isn’t just the “next big thing” that could be obsolete in a few years. Rather, digitization will soon be incorporated into every business model around the globe, and if you fail to participate, it may be you who becomes obsolete. Digitizing your business can help ensure future success, stop asking when, and start answering now!
